Calibration & Control

Traction control

Configure wheel-speed measurement and target slip before tuning torque reduction.

Wheel-speed foundation

Traction control depends on accurate driven/non-driven wheel-speed information. The ECU parameters include front/rear trigger-tooth counts and tyre circumference, plus fixed and alternate target-slip values.

Control terms

Traction control includes a minimum slip threshold, spark-advance proportional/integral control and a minimum spark-advance clamp. Maps can also define variable target slip and torque reduction versus slip error on supported applications.

Verification

Before enabling torque reduction, log all wheel speeds and confirm they agree at steady vehicle speed. A scaling or sensor fault can otherwise be interpreted as wheel slip.
